What you should know about Feilding Civic Centre
The Feilding Civic Centre is centrally located with the main entrance on Aorangi Street and a frontage on Stafford Street. The centre was built in the mid 1950s and was the result of huge public involvement in fundraising where a queen carnival raised 26,00 pounds towards the cost. In addition volunteer labour from the community was used in the construction. The building is well designed for public functions and is owned by the Manawatu District Council for the benefit of the community of Feilding and Districts. Transfer of responsibility for the operation of the centre changed from the Manawatu District Council to the Feilding Civic Centre Trust in July 2004. The centre has provided facilities for Bton, Basketball, Boxing, Indoor Bowls and Brass Band Concerts since inception and, in some cases, with the same clubs organisations. The centre has been the home of the Feilding Craft Markets for the last 20 years and also hosts the Feilding Excellence in Business Awards, Feilding High School Wearable Arts show, Manawatu Aviary Association annual bird sale, Carols by Candlelight, various theatre productions, concerts, push play aerobics and much more
Firstly the STADIUM which is marked for Basketball, four Bton Courts, one Volleyball Court, two Mini Basketball Courts and a netball court. Delight visit or phone the Fielding District Information center located at 10 Manchester Square, Fielding for booking inquiries. Concert Chamber The Concert Chamber has a mixture of tiered theater style seating, willing 189 patrons, and a 210 M2 glossy floor and a stage 8. There is ample parking around the center including an off road car park beside the railway line immediately opposite the main entrance. Second is the CONCERT CHAMBER with a seating capacity of up to 431 patrons and it comes whole with a generously proportioned stage, safe and lighting system. There is no excess charge for a standard stage lighting set which provides a general wash illumination for two thirds of the stage from three lighting bars. Mezzanine Floors The mezzanine floor comprises 38 Powerful lite staging units that produce a glossy floor over the bleachers in the Stadium.
